CELEBRATING THE LEGACY OF LOUISE HAY

Celebrating the legacy of Louise Hay 1926-2017

Louise Hay’s gentle and powerful messages of love, forgiveness and acceptance have inspired me hugely both personally and professionally. Celebrating the legacy of Louise Hay is such an honour and especially on the anniversary of her passing 3 years ago.

She was an inspirational teacher who educated millions since the 1984 publication of her bestseller You Can Heal Your Life, which has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. Renowned for demonstrating the power of affirmations to bring about positive change, Louise was the author of more than 30 books for adults and children, including the bestsellers The Power Is Within You (a personal favourite) and Heal Your Body.

Louise was an absolute pioneer in personal development.

The work of Louise addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves, so it is timeless and offers us the opportunity for powerful personal transformation. The foundation of Louise’s work is, of course, loving and approving of yourself!

Here is some more of this amazing woman’s background to give you an idea of who she was (and is), taken from her website. Follow that link to find out more. Of course, if you’ve already come across Louise Hay, then I don’t need to say much more.

Dubbed “the closest thing to a living saint” by the Australian media, Louise Hay is also known as one of the founders of the self-help movement. Her first book, Heal Your Body, was published in 1976, long before it was fashionable to discuss the connection between the mind and body. Revised and expanded in 1988, this best-selling book introduced Louise’s concepts to people in 33 different countries and has been translated into 25 languages throughout the world.

FROM STRUGGLE TO STRENGTH

Through Louise’s healing techniques and positive philosophy, millions have learned how to create more of what they want in their lives, including more wellness in their bodies, minds, and spirits. Her own personal philosophy was forged from her tormented upbringing. Her childhood was unstable and impoverished, and her teen years were marked by abuse. Louise ran away from home and ended up in New York City, where she became a model and married a prosperous businessman. Although it appeared that her life had turned around, it was not until the marriage ended 14 years later that her healing really began.

Louise started what would become her life’s work in New York City in 1970. She attended meetings at the Church of Religious Science and began training in the ministerial program. She became a popular speaker at the church, and soon found herself counseling clients. This work quickly blossomed into a full-time career. After several years, Louise compiled a reference guide detailing the mental causes of physical ailments, and developed positive thought patterns for reversing illness and creating health. This compilation was the basis for Heal Your Body, also known affectionately as “the little blue book.” She began traveling throughout the United States, lecturing and facilitating workshops on loving ourselves and healing our lives.

It is always a joy to share a taste of her work in an easy to follow way so that others can get a taste of how I help women in my coaching.

You’ve had a little introduction to Louise Hay and this link will introduce who I am and how I work with women, helping them to move on from past trauma or just a period in their life where they might feel stuck.

Making Those Positive Changes

Image of Liz Doyle for the Making those positive changes blog

Do you see me blushing in the video below? ☺️☺️ Making those positive changes is possible for all of us.

This feedback was just so, well, amazing 😊

I am feeling really positive, and my life is changing.  The in depth self-focus has really made me think about how I view myself and talk to myself.  The change in self talk has been really powerful.  I am now much more aware, and less critical of myself.

All of the sessions were useful!  But in particular, the exercises on forgiveness were incredible. I have started a daily practice of forgiveness and it is very freeing.  Also love the inner child work which tied in with my other studies in a really helpful way.  Loved the intimacy work, spotting patterns I wasn’t aware of, and also doing the intuitive exercise where we draw our family and ask questions of them.

I found it all useful Liz!  Every single piece!  There wasn’t anything in this course that didn’t fire my curiosity!

A fantastic course for anyone who wants to become more self aware, who wants to be kinder to themselves and enjoy life more.  Making a daily plan at the end of the course is a great way to introduce the concepts into daily life.

I have a few questions for you

Which aspect of your life do you find most challenging at the moment?

Is there a repetitive pattern that keeps manifesting in your life that you are trying to break free from?

What difference would this make to your life if you were able to resolve this?

What is the wound/trauma that has had the greatest impact on the relationship you have with yourself and others?

After answering these questions, why not journal about them (just write down what comes up for you) and then reflect on what you are looking for in your life.

After completing the above, you may want to find out about my life changing private one to one coaching package> If so, just send me a quick email at hello@lizdoyle.net to book in a call. As I said, making those positive changes is there for all of us.

I look forward to hearing from you ♥️

What are you GRATEFUL for?

Louise Hay Quote for What are you grateful for blog

During a beautiful client session recently, we did a wonderful exercise which was all about having an “attitude of gratitude”. You might have heard that term a few times before but it really is very meaningful. So I’m asking you, what are you grateful for?

It’s easy to make a mental or written list of everything you might be grateful for at any time of day. We can start and end the day with a short gratitude list or just think about it as we go about our activities.

No matter how hard life can get sometimes, gratitude is the most powerful way to get into that calmer space, be happier and welcome wonderful new experiences into your life.

This gorgeous quote from the amazing Louise Hay is just perfect, I think.

I have noticed that the Universe loves gratitude. The more grateful you are, the more ‘goodies’ you get.

I don’t mean only material things. I mean all the people, places and experiences that make life so wonderfully worth living

Louise Hay

Did you know research shows that being genuinely grateful:

· regulates the sympathetic nervous system that can calm potential anxiety responses;

· helps the brain to manage negative ruminations and focus on positive thoughts;

· is a catalyst for neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine that manage your emotions, anxiety, and stress response?

How about embodying gratitude through movement?

I love really feeling gratitude in my body. Not just saying words or writing them down but FEELING the gratefulness in my body. If you like the idea of that, then you might like this short yoga practice from Adriene

Grounding Into Gratitude – Root Chakra Yoga – Yoga With Adriene

By consciously practising gratitude, you can train your brain to pay attention to positive emotions and thoughts thus managing and reducing feelings of nervousness or anxiety.

As you can see, I have so much to say about gratitude! And I’ve only just got started!

I ask my clients “what are you grateful for?” a lot in our sessions. Developing the feelings of appreciation for our lives only bring more to be appreciative for.

What you’ll get from my coaching sessions

6 weeks that will help you transform your critical, negative inner voice into a positive force in your life.

You get to make yourself a priority and invite peace, gratitude, harmony into your life every day.

The ability to get back on your feet during or after experiencing challenging times and trauma.

Believing in yourself and accomplishing what you set your mind to achieving.

Welcome in new beginnings.

Start loving your body and transforming negativity into love.

Overcoming fears or obstacles and start each day with a positive outlook?

Do you want to:

clear your life of clutter and chaos to enable new energy to enter? ✨

conquer negative thoughts and have a strong, positive inner dialogue? ✨

have real self-love and success in your life? ✨

start the day with positivity, gratitude, motivation, and empowerment? ✨

Louise Hay and the Hay Rides

Louise Hay and the Hay Rides

With Pride Month nearly over it’s so so sad to still see so much homophobia and hate speech around. So, I just wanted to to talk about Louise Hay’s work with HIV and AIDS sufferers back in the 80’s. Louise Hay and the Hay Rides were a complete life line to so many people at a time when they felt isolated and rejected by society at large. 🌈🌈🌈

In 1985, she began, in her home, what later became her famous support group, The Hayride, to help HIV/AIDS patients and their families. This was a time when these people were pushed away by society – so many literally had nowhere to go as their families and loved ones turned their backs on them. It is such an important part of her legacy.

In a blog called, “My Fabulous Disease,” Mark S. King wrote that Hay’s “message of self-love and unconditional acceptance—of our lives and other people—resonated like a beacon to the frightened gay men of Los Angeles.”

Here is the link for the entire blog.

Louise Hay and the Hay Rides

It was in Los Angeles in 1987 that the Hay Rides started, gatherings of people with AIDS, mostly gay men, looking for an answer or, at the very least, loving human contact. Some came away from the Hay Rides in despair, but others came away with self-love that was hard to find as a gay man in the 1980s.

As Louise wrote,

“Often what we think of as the things ‘wrong’ with us are only our experiences of our own individuality.”

Louise Hay

And this is a section from Sherri Lewis’ blog when Louise passed:

“ Yes, Louise Hay undoubtedly profited from AIDS. But she also reached out to the HIV/AIDS community as early as 1985, before doing so became a major celebrity cause — and two years before President Reagan first initiated the topic of AIDS in a speech. She held her first support groups for people with AIDS in her own home. And she did this at a time when there was more rage than hope, when there seemed to be no future for those living with the disease. For many, there wasn’t.

At that time, Louise opened her home and her heart and carried us as we grieved. “I am safe; it’s only change,” she taught us to say. So, for all that, I believe that Louise Hay was a true angel who earned her wings. Thank you, Louise, and rest in peace.”

Again, I am sharing the link for the whole blog.

I so hope that we can just start to love and accept ourselves more so that we can love and ACCEPT others more. It really is as simple as that…..🌈🌈

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this blog and if you have come across Louise Hay before – get in contact here.

I love sharing my 1 to 1 online coaching sessions. We are not alone in our thoughts and feelings as well as life experiences even though it feels like we are sometimes.

Louise Hay’s philosophies work at a very deep level and transform in ways that can’t be described but need to be experienced. The positive changes that women see can’t be done alone nor with just reading her books.

Would you like to clear out old stories from your past and reach even deeper levels of love and acceptance to improve your relationships, success, prosperity and health?

Thank you Peggy. I always want the women to feel this way.

“Liz’s way of leading the workshop was like having a lovely time with a trusted, close friend.

I felt very safe, I was heard and felt empowered.

After the workshop, I have only one thing to say to myself, Yes Peggy, you can do it!

Thank you Liz”

Peggy

Always Have a High Opinion of Yourself

Always Have a High Opinion of Yourself

I was told recently in a message that I have such a high opinion of myself 🤔

I was being insulted but it got me thinking 🤓

Of course, I have a high opinion of myself. Why shouldn’t I? 😳

I spent so many years having quite the opposite opinion of myself that it’s a delight to know my own worth nowadays. Sometimes the old feelings can tug me back again but I know how to rectify them very quickly.

That message was fascinating – it said more about the other person and gave me great insight into their character. 🤨🤨

So please always have an exceptionally high opinion of yourself. Because if you don’t nobody else will.

“Having a low opinion of yourself is not ‘modesty. ‘ It’s self-destruction. Holding your uniqueness in high regard is not ‘egotism. ‘ It’s a necessary precondition to happiness and success.”

Bobbie Sommer
“Having a low opinion of yourself is not 'modesty. ' It's self-destruction. Holding your uniqueness in high regard is not 'egotism. ' It's a necessary precondition to happiness and success.” Bobbie Sommer

Do you always want to have a high opinion of yourself? Here are some ideas.

Be aware of what you’re thinking

Beliefs are thoughts that we accept as the truth. What we think about the world and ourselves becomes true for us. What we choose to believe can expand and enrich our world or do quite the opposite!

Listen to Your Soul.

This is loving and honouring yourself and your intuition, and not overriding your soul’s wisdom with other people’s opinions of what you should do.

Embrace Your Authenticity

Allow your true feeling, opinion, thoughts, and ideas to be enough.

Live the life you deserve

Sometimes we don’t put enough effort into creating a good life for ourselves because deep down we don’t believe we deserve it – often comes from our early childhood or buying into other people’s opinions.

Now if you’re still feeling that this is beyond you, you might be stuck in your old ways thinking and feeling. Do you want to break free?

Signs you may be stuck

You wake up tired

You realise you’ve lost your sparkle

You only get excited about things that involve food or drink!

You don’t feel at home in your own body

You feel like you missed whatever chances you had

The True cost of staying stuck

You never fully realise the possibilities of your life

You trudge though life disappointed, disheartened or discouraged

You will never truly be free

Here’s a super short video about feeling stuck!

Do you feel stuck or trapped?

I can help you break free, become unstuck once and for all AND have a high opinion of yourself – find out about how you can work with me with this link.

Married to or living with a narcissist?

Married to or living with a narcissist?

Married to or living with a narcissist?

Or are you wondering if they are?

Here are some things to remember:

They need you more than you need them

They are jealous and envious of anyone who has more than them – even you. That’s why they try to destroy you

There is always an agenda to their generosity

They get information out of you to hold it against you later

The more you tolerate their bad behaviour, the more they think you deserve it and the worse it will get

The weaker or more vulnerable you become, the more powerful they feel

They are extremely vindictive and will make you “pay” for ANY slight they perceive you’ve made

You are made to feel as if you’re going mad because they deny nearly everything they’ve said or done after the event

They criticise your friends and family and will try to force you to alienate yourself from them.

Text says break up was due to religious reasons. He thought he was god.

If this feels all very familiar, life can be so so difficult for you and if children are involved, of course, it can be even worse. It could be like you’re living a life of torture every day.

You Are ENOUGH

You Are Enough

I help women move on, powerfully with their lives, after trauma. Women who often don’t feel good enough because of what’s happened to them. (Just a little reminder – You Are ENOUGH) 💚

This trauma could be a divorce, a death or maybe a redundancy. 💚

And along the way, we’ve learnt to believe that we’re not good enough. Not clever enough – not pretty enough – not outgoing enough – not old enough – not young enough. 💚

So basically, what I’m saying is YOU ARE ENOUGH. 💚

My own story is really about transforming from doubting that I was enough to knowing that I am good enough.

I am good enough - Louise Hay

My coaching package is all about developing that deep sense of love for ourselves. Throughout the 6 sessions, I share exercises with you to do exactly that. Louise Hay’s work is phenomenal and you are in a safe and secure environment to explore emotional blocks that might be holding you back. 🥰😍

I work with women who really want to move forward with their lives and to feel that they are always good enough every day. During my online 1 to 1 coaching package, we look at the negative messages we received as children and also our negative beliefs that no longer serve us and keep us stuck.

Here is a short video from my YouTube playlist, A-Z of Self Love 🥰❤️😍

E is for Enough

E is for Enough

Inner Child Work

The part of us that carries all those negative messages is often called the Inner Child.

Although, there may be happy messages in there too, the negative ones are what limit us today.

So, it is very helpful to get in touch with the Inner Child that feels unloved and not good enough and do some emotional healing.

You have choices.

You have more power than you think.

You are strong enough to make the positive changes you need and you are worthy and deserving of the calm and joyful life you want.

I cannot recommend Liz highly enough. I loved her delivery style which is warm and nurturing. She gently guided and supported me to understand barriers I did not know I had and to be more accepting of myself. My attitude towards myself and life has changed dramatically and I now have tools to move on with courage, confidence and commitment. Thank you – A truly Empowering Experience.

Colleen

Do you think the more you get done in work or even at home, then the more you feel good enough? If you answered yes, then you need to remind yourself that you are ENOUGH regardless. You are enough just because you exist.

So, if you want to know more about how I can help you KNOW that you are good enough in my beautiful package of 6 ONLINE 90+ minute to 2 hour sessions, just get in contact. 💚

We will peel away all that crap and show you that you are enough. 💚

Inner Child Work

Inner Child Work

Communicating with our inner child plays an integral role in my coaching work.

We can often understand, intellectually, why we feel the way we do or where our negative beliefs come from. BUT deep inside us, our inner child still has that fear, anguish, shame or anger. We need to show that inner child that they are safe, loved and secure.

Using meditation and other exercises within my 1 to 1 sessions, we learn how important it is to understand how our inner child feels.

My inner child knows how perfect she is. I hold this child close to my heart and tell her how much I love her.
Louise Hay

Our patterns for love were learned as a child.

If there were hugs and kisses, warmth and affection, and you were encouraged and praised, you will expect these same things as an adult.

On the other hand, if love was slamming doors & yelling & screaming, or disapproving silence & unreasonable expectations, or even brutality this will be your inner emotional connection as “love”.

If, as a child, you looked for love and all you found was pain, what will you find when you grow up and look for love?

Yes, more pain…

Using Louise Hay’s life changing philosophies, you get to understand your relationships as an adult better.

Until you release the old patterns, you will attract people who will give you pain.

Blaming the other person is useless. We need to change the patterns, and that is what my sessions are all about.

We cannot release the past if we do not know what there is to release. We need to see what negative beliefs are within us.

Here is a short video which will give you a little more of an insight to inner child work:

I is for Inner Child

I suggest that you check in with your inner child every few days.

My inner child knows how perfect she is.

I hold this child close to my heart and tell her how much I love her.

Louise Hay

Inner Child work plays a very important part of my coaching and you know, at first I didn’t get it! Totally honesty here. But the more I connect with my inner child with Louise’s wonderful teachings, the more I am healed and living the life I’ve always wanted.

How my 6 one to one coaching sessions can help you:

  • How our thoughts and beliefs shape our lives
  • Awareness of negative thoughts and how to change them
  • Family patterns and how they affect our lives and choices
  • Healing the child within us
  • Dealing with difficult emotions
  • Forgiving ourselves and others
  • Unlocking a new future by learning to love ourselves and others
  • Creating healthy relationships
  • Freeing ourselves from damaging patterns and behaviour
  • Creating more vibrant health
  • Finding a sense of purpose, and
  • Writing a new story for our lives

Forgiveness

Image of Liz Doyle - Forgiveness

Louise Hay’s gentle and powerful messages of love, forgiveness and acceptance have inspired me hugely both personally and professionally.

It can be really hard to forgive.

It is a process that can take years. I really believe in forgiving and yet, there are things that I might never be able to forgive. But I’m willing to forgive which is always the first step.

I suggest beginning by forgiving yourself for not being able to forgive in this moment!

I’ve also learned that I do not have to forgive the act itself, but I can try to forgive the person who committed it. The goal is to separate someone’s deeds from who they are as a person.

I have had a rather long, challenging and ultimately freeing journey of forgiving my mother and others who hurt me badly and letting it all go.

If you’re not ready to forgive yet, approach yourself with gentle amusement.

Be kind to yourself and remind yourself that you’ll forgive when you are ready.

By giving yourself that kind of permission, it makes it much easier to get on with life, because you’ve opened up some emotional space for yourself and you’ve accepted where you’re at.

Here’s a little video – How forgiveness lets us free ourselves.

A-Z of Self Love – Forgiveness

Fake forgiveness is temporary, conditional, past is ongoing, motivated by fear and there is anger

True forgiveness is permanent (!), it is unconditional, you state the past is over, it is inspired by love and it takes time

True forgiveness is when you can say, “Thank you for that experience”

Oprah Winfrey

Don’t judge if you see people forgiveness quickly.- it’s not necessarily fake.

Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting but learning.

Many of my clients have found forgiveness one of the most powerful tools within our coaching sessions.

But in particular, the exercises on forgiveness were incredible.

I have started a daily practice of forgiveness and it is very freeing.
